Darcy's thread over in the Lounge got me thinking that perhaps we need a whole thread where new skaters can muse about derby names and get opinions/advice before deciding. I know I'm having all sorts of bother coming up with one!!  Just a reminder to head over to http://www.twoevils.org/rollergirls/ to check availability. (*sigh* Kidd Vicious already taken!) So can I start? My ideas so far (roughly in order of preference, which changes on a daily basis): Frankie Holyrood (I live next to the park) Pretty Shady (ie Pretty Lady, but more shady than lady) Calamity Kidd (Kidd is my surname) ...and my favourite for comedy purposes, but pretty far down on the badass list, Skatey McSkatepants. So what say you? New skaters, what are some of your own ideas?

Hi! I have to say that Skatey McSkatepants made me chuckle! I like Pretty Shady too. I'm having similar issues and have whittled myself down to a few...
Roller Slayer (I'm a big Buffy fan!)
Faith'n'Gory (Faith is my middle name)
Tay Valley Scally (Tay Valley is the name of a skating club I used to go to, plus I'm from Perth)
It's really hard!

I like KASLAM-itty Kidd! I really should be working, or at least be doing a better job of pretending to work, but my brain seems completely pre-ocupied with skating. Kidd is a great surname to be working from!

Haha  I do keep coming back to Roller Slayer and it does seem to be fate that it's not taken... will need to pass my minimals quickly so I can register! Sarah x ps - where did you get your skates from?

I'm really liking Roller Slayer too (ah, Buffy, how I love you). And I am very jealous of Bruise Leigh - just perfect.
KASLAM-itty Kidd is fabulous, and is now at the top of my list.
A brainstorm this afternoon yielded:
Donna Corleone (perhaps too close to Dawn Corleone, which is already registered?)
Snow Bite
Slaughter of Eve (Daughter of Eve)
Caroline Slam (Caroline Lamb. Perhaps too obscure?...anyone....Beuller?)
I've even got my co-workers on it. Sadly, a couple of their suggestions, Lorna Doom and Smother Theresa (oh, how we laughed), are already taken.

All new refs at GRG were made to skate as Skate Goat, until their derby name was registered. They are currently on Skate Goat 4.
